Faculty

Professor Doug Thomas


Professor Doug Thomas is the Academic Director of the Sands Institute for Lifelong Learning and the Henry E. McWane Professor of Business Administration at the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business. He is a global expert in supply chain management, production and inventory planning, and logistics performance. He has taught executive programs across four continents and consulted with leading organizations including ExxonMobil, IBM, Accenture, and the U.S. Marine Corps. He earned his B.S. in Operations Research from Cornell University and his M.S. and Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Professor Melissa Thomas-Hunt


Professor Melissa Thomas-Hunt is the Vice Dean, John D. Forbes Distinguished Professor of Business Administration, and the Senior Associate Dean for the Residential Full-Time MBA Program & Special Advisor to the Dean on Connection at the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business, as well as Professor of Public Policy at the Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy. A global expert on team dynamics, inclusive leadership, and negotiation, she previously served as Head of Global Diversity and Belonging at Airbnb and has held faculty roles at Stanford, Cornell, and Kellogg. She earned her B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Princeton University and her M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.
